Sunday outing with kids @ The School Jaya One

Sunday, November 30, 2014 0 Comments A+ a-

Found this new outing place for my kids..excited and I actually promised them since for the past few weeks to drop by here. Jaya One has changed a lot and now with the new floor of the "School "building, this place is interesting with their "Sunday ’ indoor cycling for free, only on every Sunday from 10am until 3pm. I love the whole concept of this place. Family and kids get together and the shops are focusing on kids such as toys, clothes, activities and etc..We go to level 1 and register ourselves at the customer service counter, but only left with one bike. Upset and I ask the staff how many bikes did you all offer here? She said only 15 per day..so advisable to bring your own bicycles or tricycles.

Different types of bikes to choose from and we waited there for another two.  While waiting, I spotted this nice open art clay activities and the friendly staff told me the kids can sit there and make their own clay of their choices

We rented three types different bikes and we are also busy queue up for the balloons.. only happen after 11am and there for one hour I think..luckily managed to catch the clown.

Colourful clay..my girls loves it and my two year old girl mix it all..sigh..and finally she can make the Lollipop..

My eldest girl found her favourite Angry Bird Space and she said she is going to make the angry bird clay on her own.. With the help of the 'kakak',both angry bird and lollipop key chain is ready to bring home..happy and curious looking kids. For only RM 10, still reasonable to pay for that '

Wide space to cycle in a safe environment and my kids enjoy it very much. Both me and hubby have a little back pain, bending down too much..need my yoga practice back soon..
Planning to visit the new restaurant " Old School", yet to open but saw the nice decoration inside with classroom setting.

688 Korean BBQ Restaurant @ Taman Ampang Hilir

Thursday, November 27, 2014 1 Comments A+ a-

I can find Korean cuisines easily at Ampang Korean Village and mostly all served the same traditional BBQ grilled on the stove with varieties of meats and seems like nothing special.

Recently, a friend of mine shared this page from Facebook introducing a distinctive Korean restaurant that serves both BBQ and steamboat. From the website, it stated that business opens in May 2014 (which is quite new) and they want to bring this delectable dining experience with both combination in a relax homey environment for customers. 688 Korean BBQ Restaurant use Imported Quality beef from American and lamb from Australia, surely guarantees the quality and worth the value.

I love the seating arrangement with comfortable dining place and wide area.  Service is impeccable and prompt to your response. Although is BBQ and Steamboat combination, no sweat to enjoy the meal. All the recipe is prepared by their renowned chef, Han Myeong Su  and he can make your meal with different level of  spiciness of your choice to meet your satisfaction.

Getting ready to grill
Surrounds with the Korean egg, Kimchi and garlic on the side.
New addition that is going into the menu soon - Pork Belly Slice

Pork Rib

We have almost 10-12 banchan side dishes that includes spicy kimchi, mushroom, cockles, spinach, marinated cucumbers, anchovies, vegetables and Japanese pickles. Good serving and generous portion of the appetizers and unlimited refill as long as you can finish it all.

We can choose the soup based. These are chicken soup.

Seafood Soup - Although looks plain, but the taste is really good even before I put in the seafood and other ingredients
Steamboat Couple set for 2 pax (RM 38) -  Fresh and high quality ingredients. Here we can try their Korean homemade sausage roll, handmade fish noodles, handmade fish roll and etc. With this set, we can have two choices of soup - chicken soup and seafood soup

The soup is convenient placed at each seats. We can control the heat and this way is more hygienic as well.

Compliments to the Fresh lettuce given to wrap the BBQ meats. Those are big sizes
Ala Carte menu choices

The staff will help us to grilled the meat. Starting with the Pork rib meat.

Lots of pictures moments there

Special set menu available

Varieties of sauces - you can combine the sauces of your preference

The seafood is fresh and the choices change from time to time.

Complimentary drinking water provided and kids cutlery also

Korean Handmade Taufu - RM 15

Absolutely delicate pork rib, juicy and tender.

Rarely found this sizes..Korean special handmade fish noodle..
We ordered additional Korean Ginseng Soup - I wish the taste is stronger with ginseng, somehow it turns out bland.

We move on to grill the pork belly slice. Each pieces is cut into thin slices and only needs 2 minutes to grill it.

The pork is delightfully crispy and flavourful

The side dishes is cooked and we can start to take it out now before it gets burnt

Dak Galbi ( Chicken Marinated BBQ) RM 35- The chicken meat is grilled to perfection, I felt like eating " Cha Siew" The pork meat is soft, succulent and juicy for every bite.

Free ice cream for every customers who dines in. Just nice to end our meal and cooling down after our BBQ session.

Added on with Special Korean tea for some light digestion

We enjoy the sumptuous meal and the most happy moments is to see the whole table is full of food!!!.. It's our first experience dining in with both combination of BBQ and Steamboat Korean Restaurant. I find it very unique and family with kids can have more choices on the steamboat selection and adults can enjoy the spice from the Kimchi and BBQ dish.
Thanks again for this food tasting session.

Mun Kee Steam Fish Head @ Jinjang Utara

Wednesday, November 26, 2014 0 Comments A+ a-

I knew Mun Kee new branch opening at Kepong but not sure on the actual location. I got the phone number from Imbi Branch, I called but no one pick up. So I try asking my friend who are staying in Jalan Ipoh and she told me Mun Kee Restaurant is at Jinjang Utara. I search the google website and found the location, facing the roadside and hubby is very familiar to that area. Told my parents about it and we are heading to a new eatery place.  I have tried numerous time dining in at Imbi Outlet and the food is absolutely great and cheap!

It was raining season and of course I am worried to get a parking and to get the kids down especially. When we reached there, the rain stops and the weather is cooling and we managed to get the side parking, very near to the restaurant. Mun Kee Restaurant is open from 10.30 am to 10pm.  I guess no resting hours. Located at the road side once you turn into Jinjang Utara junction and opposite is the Chinese temple. Clear yellow signage and you won't miss out to notice this restaurant.

Previously, my hubby said this place is the steamboat restaurant. At 6pm, the place is full of customers and each table order their specialties " Steam Fish". Simple ordinary restaurant without any fancy deco..Actually, it is just like a whole row of food court with other stalls also nearby. No walls, just the high roofs, ample of seats but mostly all taken up . We are talking about the food quality here..I won't mind if no air conditioning, worth visiting for the tasty food.

Many fan is placed around the area but lack of baby chair. Only 3-4 baby chairs available and all fully occupied. My baby have to sit on my hubby's lap (quite inconvenient) and I hope they can provide more baby chair for family diners like us.

Homemade Tofu with Minced Meat RM 13

My girl finished almost all and left half pieces for me. So you can imagine how good is the taufu is?? I think my parents had one piece of it each before she eat it all..haha..I felt blessed and happy when my girl have the good appetite. Light and soft taufu topped with minced meat.

Steamed "soong yu"with ginger i
Steam Fish (Soong Yu) RM 24

There are few types of steam to choose from - Nyonya Steam, Assam Steam, Minced Ginger Steam, Black Bean Steam and Original Steam. I have tried most of the sauces at Imbi Branch, but I still prefer the ginger steam. The flesh is fresh, steam to perfection and layered with lots of smooth blended ginger. Highly recommended!

Claypot fried eggplant served with salted fish , minced pork and small shrimp RM 20. Aromatic and the eggplant is soft . Perfect blends that makes this dish taste so good.

"Yuk Peng " (Steamed Minched Meat) RM 15.  The yuk peng is mixed with dried cuttlefish. Homemade taste which is my favourite.

Kangkung belacan RM 12

This simple but tasty dish hits all the right notes. Crunchy kangkung with added sambal belacan..I love this

Overall, all dish is delicious that goes well with a bowl of rice. Affordable and family dining place to be.

Huge crowd after 7pm and when we back from our shopping at Jusco, we passed by this area, still many people. So better be early.
