Ipoh Road Yong Tau Foo @ Cairnhill hotel, Jalan Ipoh

Monday, August 31, 2015 1 Comments A+ a-

Merdeka Day!! Time to think what to eat that can keep me full until dinner. My mind is thinking of Ipoh Road Yong Tau Foo of crispy foo chok and fish paste yong tau foo. I check out the previous website to find the contact number to ask if they open during public holiday and lucky the number search from the website are in use. The staff told me that they are open and have shifted to Cairnhill Hotel . I need to park at the open space behind this hotel building and go to the lobby and press level 6 to reach their restaurant.

Traffic was smooth and we reached early at 11.30 am. The signage is big and clear stated that we can park at the open space behind and it is free parking. But hubby said we just park inside the car park since it is covered and we are bringing three kids. The parking ticket is RM 3, and when we heading to the lift, there is a post stated parking is free. Just get it stamped at the yong tau foo restaurant and we are entitle for free parking.

Outdoor dining section

The parking lot design is small, so you have to careful when turning at the corner side. The new look restaurant have a bigger space, bright and clean. More comfortable ambiance compare to the previous place. There is also a VIP Lift (I wonder what is the difference) and air conditioning room inside where the crowds is. We choose to sit outside but to risk of having some customers who are smoking. But as we dine in, no customer smoke nearby and in addition of lots of fan placed all over the place helps the air ventilation and we are not sweating at all.
Air conditioning room is further inside
We pick our orders and all freshly make within 8 minutes served on our table.

The quality is still good with big portion of yong tau foo, Fresh fish paste and crispy foo chok + fried dumpling. The chili paste was spicy and delicious as dipping sauce. We also ordered vegetables seaweed popiah and rojak. The rojak stall is a new stall and i find it more tasty than the previous stall, But here they don't have the steam peanuts which I usually take away at least one pack with me.

Besides that, they also have the siu pau, and fresh baked breads. Choices of kaya, butter, chicken bun price at RM 2 each, Service is average, I can only see two people taking orders, clearing the plates, and attending to request, They should put more people there to assist customer at this peak hour especially lunch time. Price has increase to RM 1.30 per piece. Always seems to be increasing.

Still will be our place for some nice yong tau foo place during weekends

I would like to share this post to my faithful readers and also supporting my cousin's website here which I find this is a very meaningful program and community set up to bring us back the vision and founding values in 1957 when we celebrating Merdeka Day.
"Projek57 is non-political and non-partisan, created by Malaysians, for Malaysians. We believe every Malaysian has a share in the future of Malaysia and a part to play in shaping that future, even in the smallest of ways. We wanted the whole look and feel of Projek57 to be fresh and modern, uniquely local designs that would cut across demographic groups and be designs any Malaysian would want to wear.
By purchasing a tee shirt from Projek57, you will not only be a part of a movement to sow hope across Malaysia, but you will also directly benefit communities which are in need.
There are many brands and labels we are proud to wear. But if there’s one label we want our fellow countrymen and women to be proud of, it’s the label ‘MALAYSIAN’. Projek57 is about being true to who we are and celebrating the diversity and heritage that we have. We want to create a movement that will remind Malaysians how great things were and can be in our nation, and to put our love for Malaysia above politics or anything that divides us.

Hong Kong Kim Gary Restaurant @ Sungei Wang Plaza KL

Sunday, August 30, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

We decided to visit Hong Kong Kim Gary since my colleague is craving for their french toast and besides I also have the member card and this month I can redeem the free meal as well. We reached at 12.40pm and the place is quite empty. Not the usual restaurant where queue started as early as 12noon and we have to take queue numbers. The price has increase but good news is we are having more choices of food for set lunch. We have difficulties in choosing from few stacks of menu and finally I choose rice+egg+shredded pork and vegetables. My friend shared the yin yong drinks with me and the taste is still satisfying.

The shredded pork is fried to perfection and i enjoy every spoonful. Tender and crispy boneless pork meat topped with sweet corns and lovely egg.

Smaller version on the French Toast and we are all feeling weird. The portion is rather small. But it does taste good, browned and crispy on the outside and soft layer inside. Added Honey, peanut butter fillings and butter make it tasted like heaven on a plate

We get this free meal for the month of August for members - Ichiban toast bread. The taste is below par and too sweet for my liking
After all, we have a great time together enjoying the meal here with fast service.
