SPAN OFFERS RM200 VOUCHER TO BUY WATER-EFFICIENT WASHING MACHINES IN THE JIMAT AIR 1.0 CAMPAIGN


Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN) is teaming up with Shopee to encourage Malaysians to use water-efficient products through the Jimat Air 1.0 campaign, from now to 31 December 2021.

Malaysian households will be provided with a RM200 voucher when buying the selected water-efficient washing machines approved by SPAN through the e-commerce platform. There are more than 200 types of washing machines carrying the “Jimat 1.0” tag for ease of identification, to be featured in this campaign via a microsite.

The Jimat Air 1.0 microsite can be found in the Buy Malaysia in-app portal on the Shopee app homepage. Users can also reach the microsite by typing “Jimat Air” or “SPAN on Shopee”  at the search bar.

More than 70,000 new local MSMEs benefitted from Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Day on the back of robust shopping activities

Shopee Malaysia saw a robust start to the year-end shopping season and its continuous push for digitalisation paying off this 9.9 Super Shopping

Day. It reported that its flagship shopping festival had successfully benefitted over 70,000 new

local micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) who participated in the sale for the

first time ever. Meanwhile, the top 50 local MSMEs across the platform — based on single-day revenue performance — recorded an average sale of about RM350,000 each as Malaysians adopted a“shop local first” approach.




Sellers also saw a spike in sales during the 12AM - 2AM Midnight Madness Sale as user traffic surged 3 times as compared to an average day in the first two hours of 9 September.

Terence Pang, Chief Operating Officer at Shopee said, “We are extremely heartened by the

strong enthusiasm and support for our 9.9 Super Shopping Day. As we all still grapple with the

ongoing pandemic, we are humbled to play a part in providing local sellers an avenue to connect

leading up to 9 September, shoppers spent over 24 million hours watching a series of different

livestreams on Shopee Live including an exclusive interview with Jackie Chan and exciting

performances by leading K-Pop groups TWICE and Secret Number.

Shoppers also spent more time playing their favourite games on Shopee Prizes. One of

Shopee’s signature games, Shopee Shake, had a unique Jackie Chan themed twist, making it a crowd favorite with 440 million shakes recorded. Other games such as Spin & Win and Shopee

Farm continued to be well-received with a total of 4.5 billion game plays recorded across the campaign period.

A smile for every child @Mattel’s Happy Playcation campaign

With the objective of bringing A Smile for Every Child, toy company Mattel popular for signature brands like Hot Wheels, Uno and Barbie will be collaborating with e-commerce platform Shopee to send out toys worth up to RM100,000 as both companies look to address the need to uplift the spirits of underprivileged children during these turbulent times.

Pledging one toy for every order made via selected stores, Mattel and Shopee, as well as NGOs Dignity for Children Foundation and the Childhood Cancer Caring Society of Kuala Lumpur (CARES), are partnering on a special campaign called Happy Playcation taking place from 1 till 3 September 2021.

The participating stores are the Mattel, Barbie, Hot Wheels and Fisher-Price official stores on Shopee. To further encourage Malaysians to support the campaign, Mattel will offer up to 30% off on its toys during the campaign period.

Murat Ariksoy, General Manager of Mattel Continental Asia said, “We acknowledge the adverse impact of the global pandemic on children in terms of learning and simply having a memorable childhood. We are launching this campaign with the common goal of uplifting the next generation. We strive to enable all kids to feel like children again with this partnership, while seeding joy into the community and helping parents with our learning toys.”

This campaign is part of the #ShopeeGivesBack movement, which is aimed at creating awareness and driving donations for various charitable organisations to support their respective causes from healthcare and underprivileged communities to the marginalised, including animals.


Having started in 1998, the Dignity for Children Foundation provides education and care for marginalised and urban poor children in Kuala Lumpur. It currently serves over 1,700 children and youth aged 2-19 years, mainly operating education programmes in Sentul.
