Sunway Putra Mall exhibits more than 1000 unique lanterns during
Mid-Autumn Festival





Mid-Autumn Festival is widely celebrated among the Asian countries and it’s a time for family reunion. Aside from mooncakes, lanterns are significant during the festival as it serves a practical purpose of lighting the way as friends and family stay up to appreciate the full moon.



In conjunction with the Mid-Autumn Festival, from now till 16 September, Sunway Putra Mall invites visitors to celebrate the festival with a unique touch. Named as ‘Journey of Lanterns’, there are more than 1,000 lanterns displayed at the mall’s Main Concourse, each designed and decorated by Malaysian students and public of all races. 


Visitors will be mesmerized with the colorful and quirky lanterns as they walk along the 60ft Lantern Tunnel and it’s promising an insta-worthy experience as every corner of the concourse is decorated with a touch of oriental d├ęcor that brings out the Mid-Autumn feel.



On top of this, there’s also 26 larger-than-life lanterns featuring the 12 Chinese zodiacs known as ‘Sheng Xiao’ displayed by Malaysia Lantern Art Association. This is part of the mall’s effort to create a memorable shopping experience as they incorporate different creatives done by the public.



Aside from this, the mall is running a Lantern Design Competition and the designers of all the lanterns displayed will stand a chance to WIN attractive prizes worth up to RM50,000! More than 15 schools and colleges around Klang Valley, including autistic children from National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) and the public took part in the competition; out of which 100 finalists will be shortlisted. The lanterns will be judged by representatives from the Malaysian Lantern Art



Association and the mall where 3 top winners along with 50 consolation winners will be announced on 14 September during the mall’s annual Lantern Parade event. Public are also invited to vote for the best lantern design on the mall’s Facebook page starting from 4 till 12 September and 1 winner will be selected under the Most Favourite Lantern by Fans category.
