BMS Organics' Green Monday & New Menu is launched at Mid Valley! A healthy eating community along with the all-new green menu to motivate all of us to appreciate green and organic meals to stay healthy!
Held at BMS Organics outlet at Mid Valley, this campaign is a timely prelude to creating awareness on keeping good health in support of imminent global health campaigns  such as World Heart Day, World Stroke Day, Pink October, World Mental Health Day etc – all related health issues which could be addressed significantly by healthy-eating.

BMS Organics’ CEO Terry Lee reminded that obesity and cardiovascular diseases are on the rise in the country. The most common health problems in the country are heart and cholesterol-related disease, and stroke – which mirror lifestyle problems like improper nutrition, bad eating habits, stress, lack of exercise etc.  Many Malaysians are regularly eating too much and exercising too little.

Cardiovascular diseases continue to be the leading cause of deaths at the Malaysian health ministry's hospitals. In fact, heart disease was the No. 1 killer in the country for the past three decades. It is estimated that about 600,000 people die of heart diseases in the US every year, accounting for 1 in every 4 deaths, with coronary heart disease being the most common killer, accounting for over 385,000 deaths annually.

The incidence of cancer in Malaysia increased from 32,000 new cases in 2008 to 37,400 in 2012. This number is expected to rise to 56,932 by 2025 if no action is taken. Based on statistics released by Globoscan 2012, cancer cases worldwide are forecast to rise by 75% and reach close to 25 million over the next two decades. By 2030, developing countries will bear the brunt of the estimated 21.4 million new cancer cases per year.

Mortality due to cancer stood at 20,100 deaths in 2008 and has increased to 21,700 deaths in 2012, according to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) Globocan of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

A healthy and balanced diet is becoming more crucial as an essential part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. However, in Malaysia where good foods abound, it’s a challenge to eat healthy – paving way to unhealthy eating habits which trigger cardiovascular health setbacks.

“Eating less meat and more greens, and in appropriate portions are a good start to keeping our body healthy.  Eating more greens is not a huge life-changing or challenging decision but once you realize its importance, you should approach an organic lifestyle in baby steps relevant to your life – starting with your meals.

“Many assume organic meals or anything organic ‘must not be delicious’ due to the common perception that healthy food are unsavoury to the human palate. That is a misconception as many green or organic-inspired dishes can be really yummy, enthused Terry.

BMS’ all-new green menu launched today were showcased to the media ala a “fashion show” with sporty-attired models presenting the new fusions of taste, ingredients, method of preparations and presentations.  This is to appeal to Malaysians to enjoy green meals in a more tantalizing, colourful, exciting and trendy manner.
